Bibiel Hears Things: Monodia Polska – “Żegnam Cię Mój Świecie Wesoły” (I Bid You Farewell, My Merry World)

Hey people! Yesterday’s song was not even two minutes long, so today’s one’s going to be ridiculously long to compensate for that. Well, I didn’t really think in those terms when picking it, but I thought it’s a neat coincidence. And quite a contrast in style as well, but that’s relatively normal here. I was thinking already earlier this year that I would like to feature this song around All Souls Day. But then relatively shortly before All Souls Day my blogging app became quite difficult to use as I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, and then I forgot about the thing. Good thing I remembered it just in time, after all, as today is the last day of the Poor Souls octave, i.e. the time in the Catholic Church when you can obtain plenary indulgences for purgatory souls and when people visit graves and pray for the dead. It is also just a few days before our Polish Independence Day, which makes it feel all the more fitting to share a Polish-language song – a rare occurrence on this blog, and…
