Pakistan International Airlines is Pakistan’s national airline, operating from three airports in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. It was state-owned until 2025 when it was privatised and is now solely owned by the Arif Habib Corporation. But before all of that, the airline had its own works football team, appropriately named Pakistan International Airlines FC (PIA FC). The club was founded in 1958 and were based in Karachi until it was disbanded in 2021. In that time, PIA became Pakistan’s most successful league club, winning nine top flight titles (then the National Football Championship), between 1971–1997. Some of the club’s notable players included former captain and national coach Muhammad Amin, Tariq Lutfi, Turab “Wall of China” Ali, and Saddam Hussain (not to be confused with Saddam Hussein).
