Water tank sensor PCB 0 ▲ Narf 49 minutes ago · Tech · hide The water tank sensor died, twice. This is reminiscent of something about Johnny Depp. It looks like water got into the enclosure through the cable glands with heavy rain. Had to take it down, dry it, and add silicon sealant around the glands. TIL: add drip loops in the cables lower than the ingress point, so the water drips down, and it’s best to have the ingress points facing down. I took this opportunity to get PCBs printed for the adapter (and the RT85 CTCSS adapter). First time going all the way in Kicad. I’m not too unhappy with the result. The Electrical and Design Rule Controls (ERC, DRC), are very useful to ferret out mistakes when you don’t know any better. I also added a DHT11 to keep an eye on the internal humidity. It has 4 pins, but pin 3 is not used. I got an Olimex DHT11 module which mounts it on a little PCB with only 3 pins. Fortunately, a little bodge to join pins 3 and 4 of the footprint was all that was needed. I made an IDC cable to match the 26-pin EXT1 on the… Commenting on Bubbles has been removed. Why?
