Terminator 2D: No Fate - Bitmap Bureau

This is a 2D run and gun platformer in the style of classic 16Bit games like Super Probotector. The game retells the plot of Terminator 2, and is full of nice little touches recreating scenes from the film. The animation is particularly good, as is the music. This is a very short game. I think it only took an hour or two for me to finish the entire thing, and for the majority of the levels I received an ‘S’ rank on my first attempt. The final level, however, was a real challenge for me. There is a section on a moving platform with lasers that took several attempts. I didn’t realise that you could perform a roll through the laser and not take any damage. I enjoyed this enough, although it doesn’t really hold a candle to the classics of the genre. It has the spectacle, and it has a variety of gameplay styles, but it feels like it could do with a few more passes in the difficulty curve, and a bit of tightening up in the level design.
