Publishers Lunch informs us that Word is for sale. “Word Bookstore’s two locations in Brooklyn and Jersey City, NJ are for sale by owners Christine and Vincent Onorati, in advance of their move out of the country next year, Shelf Awareness reports. According to Christine, the stores hit record sales in 2025 and are up 25 percent year-to-date in 2026.” She is quoted as saying “It’s a wonderful time to take them over”. Photo: Shelf Awareness With Word’s sales up 25% over last year’s record total, it does indeed seem like a good time to dive into this business. Books clearly are selling. People are reading. Publishers keep reporting robust, often record, sales. Bookstores keep opening or expanding. It’s getting harder and harder to find capacity at the printers in order to get your books reprinted when they run out of stock long before you expected. As the Shelf Awareness story informs us “Interested parties should reach out to P. K. Sindwani by phone at 610-457-1053 or via e-mail.”
