Spotted yesterday, on the promo screens in a major supermarket at the big mall near my studio: Obesity is an illness. It should be treated as such. This definitely-not-a-sotto-voce-advert-for-a-prescription-drug was brought to me, out of the kindness of their hearts, by Eli Lilly. Spotted elsewhere in the same supermarket: a Red Bull advent calendar. Twenty-four full-sized seasonal cans of sugary shit with which to celebrate each bright, be-winged December morning! Who exactly are we trying to fool, here? The one thing we’re still capable of giving up is apparently giving up.
