The Bristol M1C Monoplane, nicknamed the Bullet for its relatively high speed for the time, made its maiden flight in July 1916. It suffered from an institutional distrust among the British hierarchy of monoplanes, and just 130 were built, of which only one went to France, probably for evaluation purposes only. Most of them were sent to Palestine.Of the many criticisms levelled at it to keep it out of front line service, only one was really valid, and that was that it had too limited an endurance for escort duties. It was faster than any of its contemporaries, which led to yet another criticism by the brass, that its landing speed of 60mph was dangerously fast. As usual, I've designed this at 1:144 scale, and it should be printable by FDM, though I do all my aeroplanes in resin now that I have a more reliable printer.
