Day 264: Street for the People 0 ▲ dpanphoto 7 days ago · Life · hide 2026-10-28Hello! No fancy tricks with the camera today. Just noticed this composition and timing on my way back.I intended for the horizon line to match up with the lower third line of the image, but it ended up being a bit too high.I also intended for the skyscraper to match up with the left third line, but it ended up being a bit too far to the left.I've seen people generalize the rule of thirds, where focal points in composition don't have to exactly match up with the exact third lines of a shot. And I think that's valid; after all, the rule itself is not really a rule, but more of a guideline.I waited for people and bikes to pass to get this empty shot of the road lines and the bright sky. Lines lead the eye from the foreground to the horizon.Once I know the rules (or guidelines), I then know how to bend or break them as needed. I think it produces a different result from if I didn't know any fundamentals and shot anything without care. Thank you for visiting this blog! Reply by… Commenting on Bubbles has been removed. Why?
