Who are you?My name is Karen Foxlee and I’m an Australian children’s author. I live and write in Queensland, Australia in a little town called Gympie.What do you write?I write for the middle-grade audience, everything from magic realism to literary novels. I started writing when I was in grade two and fell in love with the notion that I could create something out of nothing. I felt a little bit magical, and I still do each time I finish a story. There hasn’t been a time in my life that I haven’t been writing but I decided to try to get published in my late twenties. I went back to university and really tried to learn as much as could to improve my craft. I love creating complex, multi-layered stories that read simply and elegantly. I love creating characters with rich inner worlds. Sure, there are days when it all feels like hard work and no magic, but mostly I feel incredibly blessed to be creative and filled up with stories that I want to tell.Where do you write?Gympie is an…
