Praying for Time (Live) by George Michael

Share a track that has one of your favorite vocal performances of all-time. Took me a while to decide on a track for his prompt. Aretha Franklin was my immediate thought, I have a live album of hers that is just amazing. Her range, her control, and the power of her voice, always gets my emotions running. Eddie Vedder is another favourite voice, bringing me to tears when I saw them live and they opened with Release, his voice building and building… wow. But this track popped up in a playlist of mine the other day and it’s been looping in my head ever since. I was walking around Asda with my headphones on, and it was only as the song finished that I realised I’d been singing along, totally lost in the tone and emotion that George brings to this track. He’s an artist I never saw live and I regret that now. A true talent, a sad loss, but this performance captures everything I love about him. He sings this in a lower register than his upbeat pop numbers, and you can feel the quiet power in…
