Everything you can find on the English-speaking side of the Internet says as such and in my own experience, I played one game in particular that I suppose molded my expectations in a certain way. Dandy: Zeuon no Fukkatsu is a Famicom Disk System action RPG that’s a little bit of Zelda but ultimately more Hydlide in its overall execution. You can and should read my take on it if you haven’t, but one of the takeaways I got from that game is that it’s a distillation of the formula, an experience that hits all the notes but does so in a way that’s surprisingly succinct and approachable.
