My Life in Gaming Plays with New RetroTINK CRT Effects 0 ▲ Max Frequency 41 minutes ago · Gaming · hide Last night's weekly My Life in Gaming stream showcased an exciting new feature on the RetroTINK-4K scaler—CRT curvature, bezels, glow, etc. Here are some of the notes from the initial 1.99.7 experimental firmware version of the RetroTINK software (Mike Chi is already on 1.99.9 as of November 1, 2026). Minor modifications to scaler to add tube curvature (spherical and cylindrical), glass glow / scatter, a bezel with reflections, tube sag / breathing and corner misconvergence 4K Pro also adds composite video simulation: encodes the picture to composite video and decodes it back using a virtual decoder (source must be 240p/480i/288p/576i) Our scalers have gone from helping us get the crispest pixels to displaying the worst image quality imaginable...but in a tasteful way! Nothing like the warm phosphor glow of a tube TV to make this gamer's heart happy. Commenting on Bubbles has been removed. Why?
