October 2026 Reading 0 ▲ ohhey[blog] 38 minutes ago · Writing · hide · 0 comments October has come and gone and I have two more books to add to this little corner of the internet. Trailed: One Woman's Quest to Solve the Shenendoah Murders - Kathryn Miles I added this to my list after reading "Trail of the Lost" and it was much, much harder. The author dives into researching an unsolved murder on the Appalachian Trail in 1996 and the book goes into deep detail about predatory murders in the wilderness in general. The story is really sad and while there felt like some kind of resolution at the end, there are still many, many questions left open. Be aware if you choose to read it, the book includes descriptions of graphic violence as part of the narrative. The Giver - Lois Lowry I read this book in 7th grade nearly 30 years ago and I picked it up again since my daughter was reading it for school. I missed a lot of the dark undertones when I read it growing up. This felt more dystopian than some many more "adult" books because of how normalized the injustice has become. No comments yet.
