Walkthrough for Bellingcat's 'Pulling Focus' challenge

Hi, welcome to this write-up for the 3. Pulling Focus challenge from Bellingcat. Here you can see my thought processes and what steps I took to get to the answer, but of course there are many different ways of reaching the same results. First lookWe've received a picture made by Aiganysh while travelling by car, so it's a bit blurry from movement. In the middle of the landscape is a building, and it's our task to find out what that building is being used for. I first inspected the photograph and made a list of observations. This helps me get some context for what I'm looking for once I start searching online, and I can reference it when I get stuck. I mainly noticed: There's a sign with text in Cyrillic script. There's a flag on top of the sign, it looks like the flag of Kyrgyzstan. The building looks to be of good quality, with a plaque and a flag on the front. It makes me wonder if it's a building used for something government related or sponsored by the government. About the…
