Time Bandit

Time management: Last weekend we changed all the clocks one hour backwards here in the UK. Well why stop there? I think the clocks should change every Saturday night. Let's see where that gets us.From autumn backwards, and then from spring forwards, all year round. Sorry to those of you operating around timetables (and that's everybody), but it might help us to better appreciate how time works for us and also against us.Of course, the practical consequences would be fairly catastrophic. Transport, international business, computing, medicine and virtually every organised activity would be in a permanent state of confusion.Hmm.But I wonder if that's a small part of what appeals to me in this?There's also a slightly philosophical thought here: time doesn't actually change. Our measurement of it does. We're forever adjusting the clock and pretending we've done something meaningful. That's civilisation.
