Never Enough (Big Mix) by The Cure 0 ▲ Happily Imperfect 1 hour ago · Music · hide · 0 comments What’s a song where the remix, demo, or live version is better than the album version? I’m gonna start by discounting live music as I’m such a huge fan of live music that, by default, all live versions are better than the originals. Although I’d maybe exclude New Order because, ye gads, Bernard Sumner CANNOT sing live (as evidenced at Glastonbury many years ago when I ended up heading elsewhere, so so bad). I’ll pass on demos too as I’ve not heard all that many and certainly none that have impressed me enough to stick in my brain. Remixes, however, are another matter altogether. I bloody love a good remix. The first two that sprung to mind, likely because I discovered them at a similar time, are; the Perfecto mix of U2’s Even Better Than The Real Thing, and Armand van Helden’s mix of Tori Amos’s Cornflake Girl. After that I only need to look at my Remixes playlist to find a swathe of amazing interpretations of tracks, remixed beyond the original into something more. Picking one track… No comments yet.
