I stepped on to the platform at Uckfield with Will Lloyd a couple of weeks ago and expressed ‘this could be a Mosslanda’. The thought has niggled away ever since and I suspect was fuel for the concept of ‘The Mosslanda Manifesto’ - in the meantime though, here is another Saturday plan…Uckfield is the stripped back and pruned remnant of a former LB&SCR cross country route - whilst today people may lament the past I think it’s worth reflecting in some ways I suspect we’re lucky to have it at all - like most of my Mosslanda projects its subject is a modernised, rationalised single track single platform terminus. Just the thing to fit, in N, on this smallest of shelves. One thing I noticed, stood on that platform thigh was how impossibly long it was… so unlike previous sketches and concepts, the train doesn’t arrive at the station - it moves through it to come to a stop on stage. In N the old Farish ‘Turbostar’ was produced in a Southern livery, the die is cast, the stage is set… who is…
