Weird Tales, June 1927: H S Whitehead, E B Seward, and I Turgenev 0 ▲ MPorcius Fiction Log 51 minutes ago · 9 min read1759 words · Writing · hide · 0 comments We're reading our way through the 1927 issues of Weird Tales, that aristocrat of the pulps. Today, the June number is under review. Our familiar friends like Edmond Hamilton and Robert E. Howard, August Derleth and E. Hoffmann Price, are not in attendance this time out, so we are digging a little deeper today. Robert Howard does show up in the letters column, praising Ray Cummings' "Explorers into Infinity," which I guess the creator of Conan liked more than I did. And Frank Belknap Long makes an appearance, offering the poem "Advice," an eight-line rhyme that suggests you should hang out with goblins and kobolds instead of fat old people. At least I think that is what Frank is getting at; poetry is always up for interpretation. After that glance at the ancillary matter, time to hit the fiction. Hit the ground running with us at this link, and maybe come up with your own interpretation of Frank's versification. "The Left Eye" by Henry S. Whitehead (1927)Like Hugh B.
