Mestra by Madeline Miller 0 ▲ a smol miscellanea 1 hour ago · Writing · hide · 0 comments Mestra tries desperately to help her father after Poseidon grants her an unusual ability. I usually really like Miller’s writing, but Mestra didn’t do it for me. Unsure why, the writing is good, sometimes too good. A certain scene was a little too viscerally described for me, typically I have a high tolerance, but not for that particular incident, apparently. Perhaps it was simply too short to allow Miller much depth, and as it’s one of the myths I’m less familiar with, I didn’t bring any preconceptions to it. Still like Miller’s writing a lot and truly hope she’s working on a new novel. ★★★☆☆ No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
