“To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work.” - Mary OliverHello friends! Does anyone else’s brain feel as mushy as mine does right now? I can’t wait until this election is over, my body and brain are both struggling with the stress of it. Thank all that is good for birds! Here are my photo choices for today:October 29, 2026The trees are starting to turn here. If we get a little rain, we might have better colors than we’ve had for years. Fingers crossed.Pelicans continue to grace my mornings. I can’t remember a year with so many pelicans! There were at least 13 meadowlarks this morning too! They were all singing, but the mowers were too loud to record it for you. It’s been a great year for avocets too! Seventeen more stopped by this morning!I could never get enough of avocets. Grace, beauty, and just a dash of humor.A few Bonaparte’s gulls have been around, too. They look particularly dove-like in their winter plumage, and the pink legs are like jewelry.“Say what?!?!”…
