Questions to ask yourself as a player

Over on Prismatic Wasteland, the summons has gone out for another Blogwagon. This time about How to Be a Good Player. I have chosen to respond with a series of questions to help you get playing the games you want to, because I think you're going to be a Better Player if you're in the game you want to be. Why am I playing? Are you playing a game because of the game, or are you playing it because it's a way to hang out with your friends? This has strong implications. For example, if you are playing the game for the sake of the game, you probably care a lot more about the system than if it's "just" a hangout activity, and the real importance is on hanging out with your friends. In fact, this will likely inform your responses to the following questions. How do I want to play? Are you looking for a campaign where everyone is locked in for a campaign without a planned, meeting weekly in someone's living room for 3-4 hour sessions?
