Day 258: Stack of Orbs 0 ▲ dpanphoto 7 days ago · Art · hide · 0 comments 2026-10-22Hello!The photo of orange dots that I posted a few days ago wasn't the only photo of that same object. I also wanted to see what it would look like out of focus. When a small dot of light sends light rays through the lens, it will be recorded as a dot of light in the image. But if the lens is out of focus, a circle of confusion is created, turning the dots into larger orbs. This could even happen if the lens is in focus, because although camera glass is highly calibrated, imperfections in manufacturing quality can slip through to create minor errors. And physics can only go so far. While editing this photograph, I found a visualization tool in my editing program that was labeled "Power Spectral Density". I switched to it, and damn. What the hell is this? It looks so cool. Thank you for visiting this blog!
