Willis Alan Ramsey - Kerrville Folk Festival, Kerrville, Texas, May 23, 1980A couple months back I mentioned that I had seen Willis Alan Ramsey play a terrific show in Boulder. And in a nice coincidence, a couple weeks later, the Antarctica Starts Here label announced that they were releasing the first-ever vinyl reissue of Ramsey’s classic debut. That’s called good timing. So! I hopped on the phone with Willis for a chat about that LP, as well as his 55-years-in-the-making follow-up. “I always tell people when they ask about a second record that I kinda gave up on a second record,” he told me. “I’m going on to the third record.” You can read the whole thing over at Aquarium Drunkard. It’s not as though Ramsey just disappeared; over the decades, he’s collaborated with an array of musicians (have you heard this killer co-write with Lyle Lovett?) and played live regularly. Speaking of which, check out a toasty tape of the singer-songwriter performing solo at the Kerrville Folk Festival…
