Just read anywhere 0 ▲ sleepy ram 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments This is one of the most common pieces of advice for anyone who wants to finish more books. Just read whenever there's an opportunity. Because reading is fun. While waiting in line at the cashier. On the train. Waiting for the doctor. While I agree that reading is a good use of these idle moments, I can't realistically do it all the time. Sure I can easily put out my phone, open a reading app, start reading a chapter or two. The challenge, for me, is setting my mind into reading mode. Most of the time, in the above situations, I find it hard to concentrate on reading. Three lines or two paragraphs in, and my mind starts to wander. I usually catch myself just scanning the words, lacking comprehension. Sometimes, I finish a page only to realize I have no idea what I just read. I try re-reading the lines, but in the end, I just drop it. I just go back to daydreaming and observing people. Maybe it depends on my state of mind. And maybe not every idle moment has to be a reading moment. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
