Last month, I put together a post talking about the current threats in Free Software and Free Culture more broadly, how these threats build on the flaws in the movement from the start, and tried to think about how to reasonably deal with these problems. I still don’t have solid solutions, and invite people to (as usual, but more) contribute to the conversation or build on what I have in your own direction. Right now, though, I see—and saw in that post—a handful of starting points. Find a safe base to build on, projects with politics that already reject AI, fascism, and elitism. Make freedom political, that we want freedom for humans and our communities, and we care only to the extent that we can use it to serve…
