a cat is crying outside at midnight

a cat is crying outside it almost sounds like a child begging for love i go out to try and find it its midnight i follow her cries as close to the source as i can i wonder if someone has abandoned her i wonder if she is lost and scared it seems to be coming from the neighbours house i didn't know they had a cat i wonder if they've left her outside and just forgotten about her that's the best explanation i have so far as the cries are only coming from their house her cries are oh so very sad pleading to seek shelter and yet there is still a sweetness to her sadness an appeal to the heart of the humans she trusts so much it has been raining heavily tonight she needs shelter why do we get to have shelter and deny it to other beings that need it too? why can't the whole neighbourhood wake up and care for the cat together find her and give her shelter just so her cries are answered and that hope in her heart doesn't turn to bitterness there is enough sadness in the world already
