Obviously they didn't keep it that quiet, they even wrote MUSEUM in large illuminated letters outside the entrance to the new library in the Civic Centre. They also announced the opening last December in the borough newsletter and the Hillingdon Times ran a news story, but I guess I live far enough away to have completely missed that. It's part of a cost-cutting project to co-locate as many council services as possible in the Civic Centre including the Register Office, the adult education centre and a family hub. The library also shifted from larger premises in the High Street, annoying many, and the local archives service shifted here too. Most of these services have been squeezed into the former Middlesex Suite, an underused wing of the council offices which opened in 1978, all cost-efficiently co-located behind a single reception desk. Just appallingly signed. I walked in... Study Centre to the left, some kind of council service… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
