545. Nefyn to Whistling Sands (Porth Oer) 0 ▲ Round the Island 1 hour ago · 16 min read3252 words · Life · hide · 0 comments March 2018 For this walk I was staying at the Permier Inn Caernarfon. I had breakfast at the hotel and then drove down to a fairly remote beach called Whistling Sands or Porth Oer. The logistics for this walk wern’t very easy as there are very few villages along the coast on this part of the coast with a bus service and it was too far to walk between Nefyn and Aberdaron in one day. So instead I had found that a very infrequent bus ran once per day, in one direction only past this beach and to Nefyn and I planned to catch it! Fortunately this beach is owned by the National Trust and has a car park. I think I was the first to arrive at the car park. The hut wasn’t open but there was a pay and display machine so I used that. The road to the car park is a dead-end so I headed back to the more main road (it’s still an unclassified road) and according to Google maps the bus stops a short distance north along this road. I found a bit where there was just enough grass beside the road for me… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
