Good blogkeeping: Shutting down my companion Facebook page 0 ▲ Down the Road 2 hours ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments You may or may not know that there’s a companion Facebook page for this site. You can see it here. But do it soon, because in the coming days I’m shutting it down. Facebook has decided that Pages need to pay to share more than two hyperlinks per month. I share six per week. To keep doing that, I’d have to sign up for a paid tier that costs $500 per month. The ROI doesn’t remotely work out — so few people click my links on Facebook that not getting those clicks anymore will have near zero effect on this site. I’m not upset over this. Facebook is executing their overall strategy to keep people inside Facebook and to increase revenue from people who use the platform to try to promote their businesses. They get to do that all they want. Fortunately, it costs me essentially nothing to just opt out. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
