Open source discoverability - or is it about ego? 0 ▲ Hoagie's corner of the internet 1 hour ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments tag(s): #emacs #random-thoughts #programming A week ago I received in my inbox a few patches, from two different users, for confluence-reader. My first thought was Aha! Turns out you don't need to be on GitHub for people to find your project!!! That will show the naysayers of leaving it! Then I remembered that this is one of the last (maybe the last?) package I "announced" in the Emacs subreddit. 👀 I didn't ask to confirm, but it is very likely that these people found out about it from that post... No more announcement posts? Why didn't I announce other packages I wrote later? One reason is that everything I built lately is a bit half-assed, as I discussed in the Butler post. The other reason is that I feel lazy about using reddit, to the point that I am about to close my account. I stopped trying to be proactively helpful on r/emacs, just because I don't want to comment. Someone else will post the answer, the code, the link to the documentation...or they won't. I find the interaction… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
