Day 249: Too Good To Be True 0 ▲ dpanphoto 7 days ago · Life · hide · 0 comments 2026-10-13Back doing some interior decoration at home...Hello! I'm glad I didn't go out and buy a salt lamp. For starters, there's many plastic imitations of the salt lamp that don't give the same colored glow that a real salt lamp would. If I'm going to lean into the aesthetic of bright rock, I should do it right. But a real salt lamp is expensive and heavy. More than that, it doesn't last long on a shelf, and it's inconvenient to replace the bulb if it ever burns out.The main reason I didn't purchase one is the snake oil quackery surrounding it. There's generic claims of health benefits like air quality and relaxation, and I don't want to be that guy that spent on pseudoscience. The final nail in the coffin: the light emitted from the salt lamp just isn't that good. A real block of salt has patches of dense rock that makes the light uneven. So what's the point? Thank you for visiting this blog!
