Seeding with Longhorns 0 ▲ Cotswold Diary 4 hours ago · Nature · hide · 0 comments A small job this morning with Glorious Grasslands. We headed over to Pitchcombe to seed a small field squeezed between mill ponds and the Painswick road. The field had Longhorn cattle grazing who were super curious about what we were doing. Jenny and Alison went off to plant plugs while the rest of us spread the seed. We initially used a twisting tool to carve divots from the grass to create concentrated areas of bare earth for seed. However, the cattle decided they would brunch on the contents of the seed bag, so we switched tactic to spread as quickly as we could. In the end, we managed to cover most of the field, even though we were a bit light on seed. Hopefully anyway what the cattle had digested will find it’s way back onto the field at some point. In the afternoon, I held the last Monday Dursley Code Club before half term. A full house of eight today, and a little bit of drama as one of them got upset that his mum had left the library for a while. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse.
