Self-Imposed House Arrest

Two people have recently used the phrase "self-imposed house arrest" to describe Bill's current situation and it made me laugh both times - not because it's inaccurate (it's 100% accurate) but because in real house arrests, that time is counted as part of your sentence, but in this instance, because Bill is actively avoiding/evading arrest, this time will almost certainly make his sentence longer. Nevertheless, I bet Bill thinks he's being very clever.
