The best camps have cats!

I went camping this past weekend in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. I'll do a full write up later, but I wanted to very quickly share my favorite type of camp host - kitties! I mentioned in my New Mexico story that the KOA in Carlsbad had little cabins for cats abandoned in the desert. Those adorable little guys made the place cozy. The HipCamp I stayed at this past weekend had a friendly host cat who hung out around the communal cooking and dish area. This burly black cat announced himself with a sweet meow and came bounding for pets and scratches every time I walked down there. The cat quickly bounded across the yard to say hello His name is Lunar. Lunar is hefty. He's not fat - he's just built like a heavy weight wrestler - he's a muscular dude I don't actually know if Lunar is male or female? I didn't check, and it doesn't really matter for a cat.
