Apple TV's Last Hurrah? 0 ▲ This Is My Last 1 hour ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments The new US$299 Apple TV. It's expensive. It offers no substantial new features beyond Siri AI. There are a lot of bells and whistles that many customers do not need. Are we looking at Apple's last hurrah before getting out of the TV set-top business? Is this just like that Apple Silicon Mac Pro? Yes, we know why it is expensive. (AI.) But why isn't there a cheaper version? Jason Snell of Six Colors offers some possibilities. But then, we have also heard rumors that Apple is re-evaluating its service offerings. We have seen Apple getting rid of Apple One -- a bundle of Apple services -- in a lot of countries. So far, Apple has only ported Apple Music and Apple TV (the streaming service) to other competing platforms. I think we may well be seeing the end, or a re-positioning, of the other Apple services such as Fitness+ and Arcade. And with those gone, Apple may no longer need Apple TV (the set-top box) to be around anymore. ~ Link: A $299 Apple TV: Is That All There Is?, by Jason… No comments yet.
