This is so well put and ever since having kids, I have described it exactly the same: Your heart now lives outside your body. The hardest part of being a parent is that you have to trust these awkward, gangly, brave, but ultimately reckless little humans with keeping your heart safe, while also letting them be awkward, gangly, brave, and ultimately reckless.
