In 2026, the developer who writes every line by hand and reads every line with their own eyes will disappear. So what should us poor developers do now? Maybe we should start a new carrer as plumpers? I believe you no longer need to pay a human to turn an idea into code. Idea -> Code You still need humans that even know which Idea is worth to implement. What should we even built > How can we built it You still need people who build software that actually solves other people’s problems. Also you still need a group that cares and maintaines a codebase. Even a notorious rewrite like Adobe’s port to Rust will only last if someone maintains it. So I dont think we will see the end of Software but roles will be obsolte or they will merge. If you are a software developer, try to sharpen these skills now: Understanding the Business of your prodduct Improve your Communicatoin skills Networking Markting And Aim to be a Generalist with High Agency.
