Call a Hearse (1942) a.k.a. The Yellow Taxi by Jonathan Stagge

It might seem a little early to be reading a Christmas-set mystery, but I figured it might be useful to share my thoughts on this book (especially given how good it is) ahead of the Christmas season, so folks have time to buy it. I have a few more Christmas-set mysteries coming up in November for my Patreon supporters, so by the end of that month I will have a few more titles to add to my ever-growing ranked list of Christmas mysteries. I really enjoyed the other title that I read by Jonathan Stagge (penname for Richard Wilson Webb and Hugh Callingham Wheeler) called The Scarlet Circle (1943), so I was looking forward to diving into today’s read. Call a Hearse is the fifth book in the Dr Westlake series, and it directly precedes The Scarlet Circle.
