I got out my Olympus OM-2n just after Labor Day because it’s so great to shoot. I have a terrific, almost-pancake 40mm f/2 Zuiko Auto-S lens for it, so I mounted it. I discovered that the last time I’d used it, I’d left batteries in and the camera on. Oops. I loaded some T-Max 400 and in winding and firing to reach the first frame, the mirror stuck up. $#!+. ChatGPT to the rescue. I use it for troubleshooting now, as it seems to actually know things. And it discovered straightaway that the OM-2n has some sort of internal protection against too-low battery voltage and this is how it manifests. “Turn the on-off switch to Check/Reset,” it said. I did, and the mirror came straight back down. A fresh battery went in, and I was on my way. My test shot was of the computer screen before me. I brought the OM-2n along on several walks, to Broad Ripple, to Zionsville, and around my neighborhood. Here are the photos I liked best. Get more of my photography in your inbox or reader!
