https://bubbles.town/static/bubbles_1200x630.png While reading 6 Months of Bubbles by Gordon, I started wondering to myself how I'd change bubbles to make it easier to discover fresher and more niche content, while still providing the "best" posts for easy reading. Here's how Gordon put it: I want eclectic, quirky, different world-view posts to be featured. I want to see the strange little blog you’ve never heard of. I want to read about a hobby I’ve never heard of, or read a personal essay from someone on the other side of the world. That’s the joy of Bubbles for me: discovering these tiny corners of the internet. Where my ideas differ from Gordon however, is that he finds recurring themes - AI, social media, tech in general - to be the main problem. For example, when tech posts dominate, only tech interested people will visit, which leads to more tech posts. All in all, I agree with his stance, but I feel like Top is turning into a popular kids club. Here's a challange, head onto…

  • I fully agree, daily top feeds for both Bubbles and Bear are the same. AI bad, big corporation does something bad, tech bad, write more, write blogs, and that is it.

  • I really enjoy all the ideas to improve discoverability, so thanks! Besides "New" there's now also a "Random" view. It does not just show 30 random posts, because that would give more active bloggers an advantage over less active ones. It draws 30 random blogs first, and then a random post from these blogs. So each blog has the same chance of being shown. Maybe that's a good alternative besides the "New" firehose.
