Getting back to species richness 0 ▲ Cotswold Diary 3 days ago · Life · hide · 0 comments A slightly delayed monthly visit to the Swimming Spot with Graham for the riverfly check. In previous months we’d seen both low scores and counts, but last month we started to see signs of improvement. We very much built on that today. For a start, four bullhead fish were caught in the net which we photographed and put straight back. These will get recorded in iRecord and increase the county fish records. We then proceeded to scoop out numerous mayfly, as we did last month. But also tons of olives and cased caddis. In the end, a score of 9, with three species having a score a 2 and the other a 3. This feels like a solid path back to abundance which we’d hope to observe next month. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
