What with one thing and another over the last month, I didn’t get a chance to book on any of the walks in this year’s Dursley Walking Festival. So I was very happy to join Helen and Nigel for a short walk this morning through the valleys of Lasborough and Bagpath. A good crowd turned out at the carpark at Hunter’s Hall. Among them was Andy, which meant we rattled on about Discover Dursley for the first 30 minutes or so, completely missing the landscape we walked through. Helen and Nigel were great at giving extra information at points of interest. This is a route I have done many times, but I didn’t know some of the history of the mounds on the route. We also stopped by the church in Lasborough which is a fabulous remote spot and got an update on the new occupants of the manor. The interesting thing in Bagpath which I hadn’t seen before is that the crumbling Norman church has been privately bought and is being restored as a residence.
