I’m back in Essex for a few days, having carried the book scanner across the country on annoyingly full trains, in order to scan as many of Dad’s diaries as I can. Maybe I’ll finish them this trip, or it’ll be too slow or drive me mad before I finish. We’ll see. Made good progress so far though. Odd to be back here, as ever. Each time I come I feel more like a ghost haunting this place. So strongly tied to it for so long and yet also wanting to be free. Little else to report. Went to the gym three times, did no cardio, did a couple of yogas. We paid to get flu and Covid jabs – no ill effects here other than my Covid arm being achey for a day or two. Scanned a few booklets for Mum’s website. § I finished reading Christopher Isherwood’s Goodbye to Berlin this week, which I enjoyed, having a mild fascination with that period. The stories sounded much less glamorous than what little I remember of watching Cabaret. I hadn’t realised until I started the book that there’s an earlier novel,…
