Don’t play games rigged against you

Due to his work’s immense commercial success and mainstream relevance, Drake has been nominated for the Grammy awards 56 times. He has only won five times. (By contrast, consider that Kendrick Lamar has been nominated 66 times, and won 27 times.) This year, Drake declined to submit his records for consideration. Perhaps the line of thinking goes: based on all this experience, the Grammy committee tends to give his work resistance. If he’s not going to win anyway, there’s no need to play. It’s best to focus his team’s and his own energy on a game he can win. BTS makes work that deserves to win most of the coveted Grammy awards. However this year’s Grammy organizers decided to introduce new categories for Asian pop. One way to see this is the Grammys maneuvering to give BTS consolation trophies like Best Asian Pop Album as an excuse not to award them the main ones.
