Morning glory or perhaps sweet potato in the Veracruz lowlands, 30 Sep 2026 (photo by Kate St. John) 11 October 2026 Though birds were our focus on the WINGS birding tour in Veracruz, Mexico I found some flowers to catch my interest. I can only vaguely identify most of them, so if you have a more accurate identification please leave a comment to let me know. At top, Google Lens says this pretty flower is a water morning glory (Ipomoea acquatica) but it was not growing in water in the Veracruz lowlands. Maybe it’s a sweet potato? Was it in a kitchen garden? I don’t remember. Below, this sure looks like pearly everlasting (Anaphalis sp).
