In Bogost's first section he talks about the tactile connection we have to the world, and specifically the sensory connection we can have to certain things in the world. We touch a knit sweater and are transported into the arms of a loved grandparent. For me it's the brown sugar rolls I talked about last month with my kids. The discussion got my oldest daughter interested so she messaged my dad and asked for the recipe. The first bite almost brought me to tears. It made me realize how much I miss my father. It made me feel loved by him and increased my desire to connect with him again. She's made them a few times since and the experience hasn't been as moving, but I've still called him shortly after every time just to hear his voice and tell him I love him.
