A milestone birthday this year had more of an effect on me than I expected. I thought I’d be one of those cool people who say age is just a number, or that growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional. Well okay, I still believe the latter. Truth is, my views of the world have changed massively in the last twelve months. I can’t say whether this was coincidence, or my brain realising I’m getting older. For example, this year I realised my brain works a certain way. I know, right? People with clipboards and degrees told me as such, but it was also a form of self-actualisation I arrived at independently. In many ways I feel like I’m running a 1.0 release of my brain, having been stuck in beta release purgatory for much of my existence. I’ll share more of this when I can. Realising this lead me to a choice. I can: Continue to fight against how my brain works, as I always have. This works to a point, but can be miserable, confusing, and ultimately unproductive.
