Light Up Coffee is a cafe and coffee roaster with three stores across Kichijoji, Shimokitazawa and Mitaka. I've been visiting too many pretentious coffee spots lately, so Light Up Coffee in Shimokitazawa really hit the spot for me. It's a tiny two-storey building that falls perfectly into that charming "your local coffee shop" kind of vibe. They do espresso-based drinks but I would say they specialise in pour-overs, with eight single-origin beans on the menu ranging from 650 to 800 yen (with a 50 yen surcharge for ice). I forgot to ask what roast level each of the beans is, as it's not mentioned on the menu. If I had to guess though, I bet they are mostly light roasts. I decided to go for their Rwanda Shyira pour-over (700 yen). They had some snacks on the menu as well so I decided to pick up a slice of their cassata cake (800 yen).
