I don't have any empirical proof, but I am getting the sense that many of us who are photographers, follow the photographic industry, or are consumers of photography gear are getting fatigued by the repeated introductions of cameras and lenses with (in reality) minor upgrades as well as all the hype from ‘influencers’ about those cameras. Then add the much higher costs that now come with them—costs that seem to rise every few months. Costs that are becoming out of the reach of many of us.Lately, from what I've been reading, watching as well as what I’m hearing from friends who are photography gear consumers, I get the distinct impression that many of us have slowed or largely stopped buying new gear since most of it represents only minor improvements over what we already have and will do little to improve our ability to create the photographs we want to create.
