Last year, I created a new map projection, the Asymmetric Monstrosity, designed to make somewhat of an artistic and educational statement about projections in general. I also made a physical world map to demonstrate it. Click to go to the original announcement, which has a free download. Of course, there is a huge difference between a projection and an individual map that uses that projection (a distinction that many who have written about the UN’s adoption of the Equal Earth projection seem to have missed), and I am happy for others to make use of my strange creation (unlike Buckminster Fuller and his dymaxion map).
